Misch Kohn (United States)

"(…) Even though Misch has used and taught many printmaking techniques in his long career, intaglio remains his favourite. Etching and engraving have found an important place in his work because these techniques can be used so effectively in combination with his own handmade paper. He also often uses the technique of “chine colle”: printing a wood engraving or etching onto a very thin sheet of Chinese, Japanese or coloured paper the same size as the block or plate, which is passed through the press together with a larger heavier handmade sheet to which it adheres. Misch has found it possible to create endless collage combinations incorporating handmade paper, printing processes, recollaging and reprinting. The results are a series of prints that continue to this day. (…)"
