Dianne L. Reeves (United States)

"(…) Handmade paper, combined with mixed media, provides a means to re-use natural substances from root sources to create artistic compositions. These art forms encompass the naturalism of primitive civilizations yet also afford a medium wherein present-day influences of world events and problems are translated into my work. While working with the fibres, these ideas are developed further. I am as concerned with the actual process of papermaking as I am with the end product. Harvesting fibres and being involved in the preparatory steps produces a unique metamorphosis of natural substances. Structures take shape merging with natural materials and handmade paper to form a universal symbol from a personal vision.
Depths of Rage consists of cooked, beaten and pre-shaped western-formed ashe juniper and jute paper along with deer antlers, fish bones, wire and ashe juniper root.(…)
