Kathrin Biffi

Paper has always been her companion. She works exclusively with paper because she considers it one of the most sensitive materials. It responds to her slightest intervention and changes from inside to outside. Paperwork allows her to combine philosophical concepts with traditional techniques. She works with transparent paper, because the interaction of light and transparency provides a third dimension. Biffi works in various steps. She colours the transparent paper or makes a drawing, using ink and graphite. When she wants to make an object, she cuts the paper into pieces and pastes the fragments together until she has reached the image that she has in mind. The exhibited works of art reflect her thoughts on the correlation between society and nature.
